- Have you heard the saying that people leave managers rather than jobs? Imagine being the sort of manager who helps people to feel more motivated every day. We are going to focus on the three habits that you can help your team to develop that will enable them to not only feel motivated, but also find it easier to become motivated in the future. Habit one is to focus on the intrinsic motivation. What question could they ask themselves that would connect them to their inner drive on a regular basis? For example, if someone shared with you that their goal is to take on a senior leadership position one day, a question that drives them could be, "What have I learned today?" or, "Which new person have I had a quality conversation with this week?" Habit two is to be wise about how you keep score. This has many implications. Personally, you want to be looking at a to-do list that has got some things to ticked off pretty quickly. It shouldn't have an impossible number of tasks on it either…
