Organizing your decisions before making them
- If you want to prevent decision overload, this tip's for you. It's been estimated that the average adult makes around 220 decisions per day, and that's just food related. A potential drawback to having many pending decisions is that they can become scattered in our minds, distracting us and depleting our concentration. So to prevent decision overload, organize them. Inspired by the Eisenhower Matrix, divide your decisions into four categories. For minor decisions that can be made confidently on the spot, decide now. For major decisions, defer them until you have a clear head. For decisions that can be handed off to someone else to free up mental space, delegate. And when you need more information to make a decision, delve deeper and gather more data before making a choice.
