- ADHD is one of the most prevalent forms of neurodivergence. It currently affects approximately 4% of people globally. But whilst ADHD is often perceived as a neurotype of hyperactivity, it's a spectrum, which means that not everyone will be affected in the same way, much like autism. In a workplace setting, be it hybrid or otherwise, ADHDs will bring great qualities to businesses like deep focus, an ability to manage multiple projects, creativity, innovation, and energy. The energy they bring to organizations is like gold dust, but in order to harness it, it's important to understand your team members. For some, the type of work given will be pivotal. You can guarantee a deep dive that will generate new solutions to old problems. Managing employees with ADHD is a great opportunity but will require you to organize your work. So it's important that every employee understands the role they play. Short bursts of work can work really well. Be flexible about how they do their work and where. Many employees with ADHD enjoy keeping mobile. Have you considered outdoor meetings or working in different hubs for a few days each month? ADHD offers so many untapped skills and talents, so let's create the right conditions to embrace them.
