Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at work

- So much of managing neurodivergent team centers on flexibility. As a manager, it's vital to get to know each of your team members well enough to understand how they work best, their optimal working environment, the work that excites them, and how neurodivergence affects them. A one size fits all approach won't work. By staying flexible, I mean being willing and able to consider and respond to the needs of your neurodivergent employees. Whilst this might at first seem challenging, it's the best way to achieve optimal results. The output of a team with a flexible manager will be far more creative and innovative than that of a team manager who only wants to do things one way. Self-awareness and an empathetic management style are necessary when neurodivergence is presence in your team. Keep communication open and frequent. Try not to make assumptions about behaviors. Be open and read up on the basics of neurodivergence. Take the time to explain what your vision is and how the various projects and tasks fit in and explain this multiple times and in different ways.
