How to shift focus to the present
- Have you ever felt like a conversation was just off? Like you were over analyzing every word you said. You're not alone. One big reason this happens is that we can get stuck in our own heads, asking things like, "Do they like me? Am I coming across as confident? Do I seem interesting?" And this kind of overthinking makes everything feel more stressful than it actually is. But here's the reality. People like you more than you think. Researchers call this the Liking Gap phenomenon. So what's the fix? Number one, stop analyzing mid-conversation. Shift your focus outwards, instead of worrying about how you're coming across. Number two, assume people already like you. This changes your energy and makes you more natural. Number three, stay present. The best conversations happen when you're actually in them, not stuck in your own head.
