How to own conversation slip-ups
- Have you ever had a moment in a conversation where you blurt out something and then immediately think, "Why did I say that?" And then it derails the entire interaction. Here is how to recover. Number one, don't panic. Just say, "That came out wrong. "Let me rephrase," or, "I think I could've said that better. "Let me try again." No overall apologizing, just a quick little reset. Number two, keep it moving. Don't dwell on it. Just continue the conversation like nothing happened. Most people won't even remember the slipup. Number three, relax. Everyone does it. People appreciate honesty way more than perfection. Owning your awkward moments with confidence actually makes you more likable.
