Penetration testing and offensive security
Let's talk about offensive security. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be an ethical hacker? Well, first, let's talk about what an ethical hacker actually is. To start, you'd be the good guy. An ethical hacker's job is to find vulnerabilities and weaknesses within an organization. Companies hire ethical hackers, also called penetration testers, to spend time and hack their network. This is where you would spend time thinking like the bad guy, trying to figure out different ways to penetrate their network. Maybe it's via a phishing email or perhaps breaking through their firewall. This job requires some hard technical skills as well as soft skills. In order to be an ethical hacker, you need to, well, learn how to hack. Second, you need to learn how to communicate the vulnerabilities effectively to the organization so that they can understand them. This particular path in cybersecurity can be extremely rewarding.
