What are full-screen graphics?
- [Instructor] What are full screen graphics? When we're thinking about content, and in particular our audience's attention span, sometimes it's necessary to take a break in the content, just to either reinvigorate the energy, or we're finishing one point and then wanting to move on to something else. Either way, we can use a full screen graphic to take a break in the content, and that allows us to do several of the following things. We can share social media handles. We can promote a sponsored message, reinforce brand messaging, or display a call to action. And of course, the content that we show could actually be a combination of all these things. So we know that there are several common social media aspect ratios, 16:9, 1:1, 4:5, and 9:16. And so we'll probably have to consider all these formats when we're creating a full screen graphic. You can see that there are some common areas if we overlay all of these on top of each other. Generally speaking, the 1:1 fits into all of these frames. And so we could use that as a safe area when we're thinking about how we build the content that we're going to display. That's not necessarily always going to be the case, of course. If we look at this graphic, you can see that if we were to maybe scale up the 1:1 to encapsulate everything, we could probably work in a different way. So these are some different methods that I employ when I'm working on social media graphics like this. We need to consider a few things, like what is the best way to build a full screen graphic? And I've already mentioned that we have to keep in mind other formats. Sometimes it's appropriate to begin at 16:9, and other times you can take a different approach by building a larger, a much larger 1:1 version, which allows you to then scale that down for different purposes. And also, with this full screen graphic, how will it be revealed over the existing content? How do we integrate it with our current content? Or maybe the point is that it just simply cuts to the graphic, you know. We want to change the pace by doing a hard cut, or we could simply fade it in, or make use of wipes for a more dynamic, energetic type of reveal. So here are some examples of full screen graphics that are in 16:9 formats and are following along with our Red30 Tech branding. And we're going to take a look at how we assemble some of these in the following movies.
