- [Instructor] Data is used for application workloads, data analytics, machine learning, and more. An application migration would not be successful if the data required was not properly migrated first. When performing data migrations, you should consider how much data do you need to move. If it is a significant amount of data, then do you have the network bandwidth and device throughput to realistically migrate that data over the network. Also, consider whether downtime needs to be scheduled and for how long, and are there costs associated with the transfer of this data. Do you know your data profile? For example, how much data do you need to transfer? How many actual files do you plan to transfer? Is it many small files or just a few very large files? What does the data look like? Is it on one location or across many devices? Should your data be transferred online or offline? And most importantly, which application depends on this data?
