- [Instructor] A significant advantage of using IPAM is your ability to perform management of your IP address space from a single interface. You can manage the following: IP address blocks, which consist of IP address subnets, IP address ranges, and IP addresses, IP address inventory, and IP address range groups. You add or edit IPv4 address blocks by defining the network ID, the prefix length, whether or not to automatically assign address values, a start IP and an end IP address, and then potentially additional options such as description, last assigned date, and owner. When you define IP address ranges with IPAM, you'll need to be able to define a number of general settings, including the network ID, prefix length, subnet mask, and whether or not you want to automatically assign address values, and what the start IP and end IP address range will be and whether the service is or is not managed by IPAM.
