Deploy and manage domain controllers in Azure
- [Instructor] If you currently have Active Directory domain services deployed in an on-premise environment and you want to extend to the cloud, there are a number of options that you have. First of all, you could consider using Entra ID, which is the standard tenant that comes with a Microsoft 365 or Azure subscription for the purposes of authenticating users to connect to cloud services. We'll examine this in some closer detail in a subsequent lesson. Entra Domain Services is another option. This is a managed service without the need for domain controllers that closely mimics your on-premise Active Directory environment. It's more typically deployed to replace on-premise Active Directory, while you still need access to directory aware applications. Deploying virtual machines with the Windows operating system, which are then also installed with the Active Directory domain services role and DNS server roles, is a very common approach.
