- [Instructor] Most scheduling best practices are based on the number of work tasks or activities in your project. That is tasks that aren't summary tasks. In this tip, we'll prepare for evaluating a project schedule by setting up a new view and counting the number of work tasks. Head to the task tab, and then click the bottom half of the Gantt chart button. At the bottom of the menu, choose save view. In the save view dialog box, you fill in the name for the view. I'm going to call it C_ScheduleEval and then click okay. Now that we have the new view, we're going to insert a custom number field to count the work tasks. Right click the heading for the duration column and choose insert column on the shortcut menu. Start to type in the name of the field and when you see number one, click it to add that to the table.
