Save a new view

- [Bonnie Biafore] Here's another tip about using Microsoft Project. I'm Bonnie Biafore. This week we'll look at how to save an existing view as a new view so you can customize it. Suppose you want to create a spiffy customized view, for instance, to find tasks to shorten. The easiest way is to use an existing view as a starting point. To do that, we're going to click the bottom half of the Gantt Chart button on the View tab, and I'm going to choose More Views. In the More Views dialog box, let's select Detail Gantt and click Apply. So now I have the view that I want as a starting point. Before you add any customization, let's save this as a new view. On the View tab, click the bottom half of the Gantt Chart button and choose Save View. In the Save View dialog box, you give it a name. Now I like to add C_ to the beginning of my custom view names so it's easy to see them and differentiate them from the built-in views. So I'll call this one C_ShortenTasks and then click OK.
