- [Bonnie Biafore] Hi, Bonnie Biafore here. Limiting how many dependencies have lead time is another scheduling best practice. In fact, leads should never be used. In this tip, we'll filter for them in case you need to correct the schedule. Negative lag, also called lead, is an overlap between two tasks. I'm going to look at task nine, Estimate cost, and I'm going to go to the Task tab after I select that task. And then in the Editing section, click Scroll to Task. That way I can see the task bars over in the timescale on the right side. Now you can see from those task bars that there's an overlap between Develop construction drawings and Estimate cost. The problem with this lead time is that the overlap could cause the successor to start too soon before the predecessor finishes.
