Create dashboards
- [Instructor] In this sub lesson, we are going to create dashboards. So what is a dashboard? A dashboard is a single page, often called a canvas. Visualizations on a dashboard are called tiles and can be pinned. And they can be created only in the Power BI service. So if anybody ever asks you where can you create a dashboard in Power BI, the only place you can do that is in the Power BI service. So let's take a look at the hierarchy of objects for dashboards. So we have a dataset down below and a report can pull from one and only one dataset at a time. So we can see report A pulls from dataset A, B from dataset B, and report C from dataset C. And the only place that I can surface content from multiple datasets at the same time is on a dashboard. So I can take content from report A, B, and C, and simultaneously put it on a dashboard and take a look at data points across all of those datasets. So some considerations when creating dashboards.
