- [Instructor] In previous lessons, we've been configuring our various resources to send our logs to Log Analytics workspaces. So in this lecture, we're just going to discuss why we've been doing that and how we can get more power out of the Log Analytics workspace. So having logs in Log Analytics workspaces provides a couple of main benefits. The first is that logs can be retained for longer than 90 days. Now, by default, logs in a Log Analytics workspace are only retained for 30 days, and that's because anything above that, and you start to incur additional costs, and so it's to make sure you don't accidentally start to accrue too many. But what we can do is, in the Log Analytics workspace, we can go down to the usage and estimated costs blade, and the first thing this will do is show us how much data we're actually currently storing and how much, it'll give an estimate of how much it's going to cost.
