- [Instructor] In this lesson, we're going to look at how we can generate alerts out of Azure. So in previous lessons, we've looked at how to capture and log events that might happen so that we can then go and query them. But in this lecture, I want to explore how we can be proactively notified if a particular event happens. There's a number of different ways we can set up alerts, and I'm going to show you how we can do it through the Azure Monitor. So go into the Azure Monitor console and select alerts. And then simply go and say New Alert Rule. The first thing we need to do is select the resource. So we need to tell Azure what it is we want to monitor and I want to monitor for virtual machines. And in particular, I want to be notified when a virtual machine is stopped or started.
