- [Instructor] Now let's dive into rendering and materials. Now we are going to be rendering specific materials in the Arnold Renderer. So before we actually get started on materials, let's go ahead and make sure our renderer is configured. So we can go to this button here, and that's our render settings window. Now typically we're going to be using the Arnold Renderer. Now when you use this pull down, there may be more than what I'm showing you here. You can install any number of Renderers into Maya, but we want to make sure we select the Arnold Renderer, and then if we want, we can configure the image size. But right now we're just going to be rendering in a viewport, so we don't need to worry too much about that. But we do need to go over to two tabs here. One is the system tab. Now the system tab tells me which device will render. If you're developing materials, you'll probably want to use GPU, and this uses your graphics card to render.
