INDEX pros and cons

INDEX pros and cons

- [Narrator] The index function is one of my favorite lookup functions and for good reasons. First, it is so flexible. You can look up values in either a column, row, or my favorite, both. Next, the syntax is so simple. You simply select your range, then specify the row number, followed by the column number with no complex nesting needed. But the index function also has its limitations. The biggest one for me is the fact that like VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP, I have to set a number for my row or column index. That makes it difficult for me to dynamically update and remember which row and column I'm looking to pull in my data. But don't worry, that's where the match function comes into play. But before we get to the match function, let's solidify our understanding of the index function with a challenge.
