- I hinted at these core skills in the last video. In this one, I want to talk about how to build each of them a bit more. Build greater trust. We build trust when people see us as credible, as knowledgeable, and having expertise, but also when they see our motives as being in their best interest, and make sure we deliver on our promises. Second, build relationships. We all know how to build relationships. At work, think about it this way. How can we have higher quality and frequency of interactions, and find ways to be better connected with other people? What do we have in common with them? And at work, we've got to make time for this if we want those relationships to get better. Next, understand their goals. You do that by paying attention to what they're working on, to what they care about. And ultimately, by asking them, hey, what's important? What are you working on? And once you know what they're working…
