Create alert rules
- If you've got an Azure virtual machine that's running an important workload, you may find it necessary to be notified if there's a problem with that virtual machine. So let's take a look at how to set up some alerts for an Azure virtual machine. Right now I'm in the virtual machines console and I'm going to click on my example virtual machine. This is going to bring up the virtual machine summary, and so the next thing that I'm going to do is I'm going to scroll down the column in the middle and locate the monitoring section. And you'll notice within monitoring that we have a section called Alerts. I'll click on Alerts and this is where we can set up alerts for the virtual machine. So in other words, if anything goes wrong with that virtual machine, then we'll be alerted. So we have two options here, we can enable recommended alert rules or we can create a custom alert rule.
