- [Instructor] While you can use a third party backup application to back up an Azure virtual machine, Microsoft also provides native backup capabilities. So let's take a look at how to back up an Azure virtual machine using the native backup features. As you can see, right now I'm in the virtual machines console and I'm going to click on my example virtual machine. Next, I'm going to scroll down to the Operations section and then I'm going to click on Backup. And the backup section provides a number of different options. The first thing that we have to do is to choose a recovery services vault. The recovery services vault is where the backup is going to be stored. As you can see, we have the ability to create a new recovery services vault, or we can use an existing one. I'm just going to use an existing recovery services vault.
