- [Instructor] This is a course about machine learning, in particular machine learning on what are called edge devices. So what is machine learning and what do we mean by edge devices? Well, machine learning is part of artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence, or AI, broadly refers to systems that allow constructed things or machines to act smart. But what does it really mean for something to act smart? Let's talk about the learning part. Through experience, a self-driving car learns to recognize and respond to situations like staying on the road or stopping at intersections. Large language models and other forms of generative AI analyze vast amounts of data to generate text, answer questions, create images, compose music, edit video, and many other tasks. Learning behaviors from data and experience when accomplished by computers is called machine learning, but what about machine learning on edge devices? What does that mean exactly?
