Lab setup
- [Instructor] In order to explore transferring files from one system to another, we'll need at least two computers. In the lab setup I'll use for this course, I have a Linux system running on a virtual machine acting as a server, and I also have a Windows PC and an iPad. I'll also be connecting to a cloud server later in the course. You don't need to have all of these things. I'm just using many different kinds of clients to show how versatile SFTP is, and how it allows us to connect from almost any kind of computer or device. The client system I'll be using for most of the course is a Windows PC, but if you have a Mac, you can follow along just fine as well. Your client will need to be able to communicate with your server through the network. The server needs to be running SSH server software, and you'll need login information or credentials, a username and a password or key for an account on your server.
