Select a layer to work on
- [Instructor] A layer needs to be selected in the layers panel before you can edit its content. Being on the wrong layer is a common gotcha. So I want to bring your attention to it so it doesn't happen to you. Let's see what it looks like when you're on the wrong layer. Let's say that I'm editing the dancer on the left, which is located on the Dancer 1 layer in the layers panel. I'll show you that by option or alt-clicking on the dancer layer as we learned to do in the last movie. And then after a while, I realized that the wall in the back is pretty plain. I'd like to add some paint to it. So I'll get my brush tool. I have blue as my foreground color, and with a hard brush, I'm just going to add some random dots there on the wall. And now I'll go back to editing the dancers. And then let's say that tomorrow I come along and I decide I want to move the dancer on the left over a little bit. So I'll look at the layers panel, I'll make sure I have the Dancer 1 layer selected, and I'll…
