Refine a selection

- [Instructor] Sometimes you may not be able to get a perfect selection with any of the selection tools you'll find in the regular Photoshop workspace. Luckily, there's a separate workspace called Select and Mask, where you can go to refine a stubborn selection. Select and Mask is particularly useful when you're trying to select soft edges with lots of detail, like hair or fur. In this image, I'd like to replace the orange background around the model with a yellow background. The workflow should be the same one we followed in the movie about select subject earlier in this chapter. I'll select the subject and then we'll turn the selection into a layer mask, which will hide the orange background, and let the yellow on the layer below show through instead. As you know, to use select subject to select something, you can select one of the tools here in the toolbar, anything in this tool slot, and then go up to the options bar, and click Select subject.
