- [Speaker] In this movie, you'll learn how to create different layer types and how to delete layers. If you've been wondering how to create a layer, the answer depends on the type of content you want on that layer. If you want to add color, a photo, or other pixel-based content to a layer, you need to create a pixel layer, which some people think of as a regular layer. To do that, go to the bottom of the layers panel and click the create new layer button, the one with the plus symbol on it. That creates a new layer above the selected layer, and the new layer has a generic name, like my new layer one. When you make a new layer like this, it starts out being transparent until you add content to it. I'll hold the option or alt key and click the I icon on the new layer so that you can see only that layer in the document window. You can see that it's completely filled with the checkerboard pattern, which represents transparency in Photoshop. Now, let's add some content to our new…
