Combine images with a layer mask
- [Instructor] Layer masking is the key to compositing and other important workflows in Photoshop. Once you understand how a layer mask works, you'll be able to combine layers, remove backgrounds, edit part of a photo, and lots more, and you'll be able to do all that non-destructively, which means that you won't be making permanent changes to your image. Let's take a look at this image. It's the beginning of a composite that has two layers. On the top layer, we have what you see here, this image of a woman on a train looking out the window. And on the bottom layer, we have this image of a rainy street. What we want to do is to hide part of the train layer so we can see down to the scene on the street layer. Now you may be thinking, "Well, why don't we just select and delete part of the train layer and then we'll be able to see the street layer below?"
