Configuring Windows Update
- [Announcer] Beyond antivirus, strong passwords and backup, another key part of your computer security strategy is Windows Update. You must maintain the operating system. This process involves the Windows update service shown here. The service is always running on your computer. To confirm it, you can open the settings app, press the Windows+I keyboard shortcut, and then choose Windows Update here. You'll see a screen similar to this. It informs me that Windows is up to date. It last checked in with the Microsoft mothership today at 14:10, or 2:10 in the afternoon. It's checking all the time for updates. If an optional update were available, it would appear here and you can choose whether to install it. Otherwise, the updates are downloaded and installed automatically. Unlike older versions of Windows, you cannot refuse or opt out of an update, but you can schedule them. Choose advanced options, then choose active hours.
