- [Instructor] Now, let's say you've got a cool static mix or you've got instruments that are doing the things you want them to do, but you want to take things to the next level a little bit. That's where automation comes in. So for example, I was talking about the level of this particular instrument kind of going crazy and a compressor would do the job, but why not just automate the volume? And what that means is that we're actually going to record a performance of movement of this particular fader. What I'm going to do is I'm going to change my automation mode here to touch. And what that's going to do is it's going to make it so that as long as the play head's moving, if I touch this thing and move it, it's going to record that movement.
