- [Instructor] Sometimes a bar chart or a line chart or another out-of-the-box named typical chart just won't express the data the way you need to express it. In those cases, you might try something different. For instance, I created a data story focused on whether you can compete and win in the Olympics once you turn 50 years old. The opening examines the distribution of athletes by age. I could have used a standard histogram here, but to keep things a bit fresh, and visually interesting, I just vertically centered the histogram. You could argue it makes it harder to accurately compare the values, and you'd probably be right, but my goal with this visual is for you to just see how few older athletes there are, not make a precise comparison. Or in this visual I made depicting the amount of coffee consumed per capita in various countries around the world. This is a pretty standard chart type again,…
