Developing a takeoff sequence
- [Instructor] When performing takeoff, it's helpful to follow a sequence. This helps keep things organized, including your own thought pattern. It's also an intuitive method of reminding you of what's done and what's to come. There are few concepts that make sense to me. Maybe they will apply to your trader discipline too. For general trades work on a new building, I try to build it in sequence that the building is being built in. I start with the site work, the clearing and land preparation. Then I move over to the concrete, foundations, footers, et cetera. Then I work my way to the building shell, the roofing, the exterior, the sheathing, even the doors. It's all sequential. Now, if you're doing a renovation project, you may want to use a sequence, like starting with the selective demolition, then moving to all the restoration efforts, then going to the finish work, the painting, the trim, carpentry, et cetera.…
