Backup and recovery options in VMware
- [Instructor] In VMware, backup and recovery options are crucial for ensuring the protection and availability of virtual machines and data. Here are some common backup and recovery options available in VMware environment. The first one is VMware vSphere Data Protection, which is, in short, VDP. It's a built-in backup solution from VMware that provides agentless backup for virtual machines. It offers features such as deduplication, replication, and recovery of virtual machines. Then the second one is VMware vSphere replication. This is a feature of VMware vSphere that replicates VMs from one site to another for disaster recovery purposes. It allows VMs to be restored in case of failure at the primary site. Then VMware Site Recovery Manager, often referred as SRM, it's a disaster recovery management tool that automates the failover and recovery process.
