From the course: Introduction to SQL Using Google BigQuery
What you should know
- [Instructor] So what should you know before starting on this BigQuery SQL journey? You should have had some exposure to databases, and potentially, you've even written a few SQL queries using a different SQL dialect such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server to name a few. Or maybe you've tried out other data technologies and tools such as Excel, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, or one of the many other tools in the data analytics and data science ecosystem. So whether you've come already prepared with some prior SQL skills or not, as long as you have some exposure to data analytics and data science, we should be good to go. I'll also take you through the steps to create your own Google Cloud platform account and how to set up the free BigQuery sandbox from scratch. You do not need to have a Google account or Gmail created prior to starting this course. A common question I get asked all the time is, do I need a specific browser for BigQuery? And the answer is no. Google Chrome is the recommended browser since it is a Google product, but don't worry, as any browser works, and this shouldn't make any difference in your learning experience.
