Wiring an NPN device to a PLC sourcing input module
- [Instructor] Now let's look at an example of connecting a three-wire NPN sensor to a sourcing module. The PLC is an Allen-Bradley Micro820. For this PLC, the input pins are shown here, the ones on the top. And the sourcing input pins, input 4 to input 11, here, show the wiring diagram of a three-wire NPN device. This photo electric sensor from Omran is a good example of NPN device. This is a three-wire sensor, and the wiring diagram is shown in the manual. Now the same thing applies for any three-wire NPN sensor, that is brown and blue are power wires, and black is a signal status wire that goes to a digital input. These diagrams show the general layout of how to connect NPN device to a sourcing module using the NPN sensor wiring diagram from the manual.
