- Alexa, take us to the next lesson. Just kidding. But I'm sure you're well aware that today's cars come with voice-assist features. You can design a native AI voice assistant and talk to cars. Voice assist is an AI in the car. We have to call voice AI with an invocation term like, "Hey, Siri," "Hey, Mercedes," or, "Okay, Ford." Can you imagine why we need an invocation word when designing a voice interface? The invocation word wakes up the AI to listen. This ensures that the voice AI is not listening to us all the time, simply to protect our privacy. Can you think of some examples where you can talk to the car? You can ask for driving directions, play your favorite music, or ask for change the temperature inside the car. Some cars allow you to start the car or warm up the car remotely, in cold weather. Voice is an interface to do something you can do with a click or turning a knob. It naturally lends itself to a human-centric interface. So think of voice design as any other…
