- Did you ever wonder what I should learn next to grow in your role or pivot into a new one? Or did you ever want to know what skills are needed to pursue a new job? That's where Role Guides and Next Role Explorer can help. By organizing learning content around specific job roles, Role Guides eliminate the guesswork and provide a structured path forward. And learners who use Role Guides spend over 12 times more time learning. Another helpful resource is the Next Role Explorer career pathing tool, which can help learners discover realistic internal growth opportunities based on actual career transitions within their organization. And this leverages the global data from LinkedIn's Economic Graph. Let's take a look at both. From the homepage, to navigate to both of these features I'm going to click on Career Paths in the top left. Now that I'm on the Career Paths page, what you'll see at the top is the Next Role Explorer. You'll see it starts with my job title, which is a senior program manager. And again, this is why it is so important to make sure that your job title on your LinkedIn profile is up to date. Now if I look to the right, it is going to show me as a senior program manager, what are the most common transitions for this role. So what are the most common jobs that I could do next? And based on the data, we see that is a senior technical program manager. If I click on that role, it's going to give me more information in data that's relevant to my job role and my company. It's also going to suggest the skills that I might already have that are necessary for this role. If I look at the next one Similar, this is going to show me the top job roles with related skills and responsibilities to my current role. So in this case, the two jobs are a director of program management or a manager of program management. And again, if I click on each one of these, it's going to refresh to the right and show me some really interesting data about these job roles. Finally, if I'm interested in pivoting into a new role, and you'll see this is defined by the top transition to job roles in different job families, you'll see that those are chief of staff and director of operations. Now this looks really interesting to me, so I'm going to click on director of operations, and you'll learn more about this job role, the percentage of people at my organization that made this transition, as well as the skills that I might already have that are relevant for this job. If I'm interested in just browsing, what are some other job roles that might interest me and the associated content? That's where Role Guides comes in and you'll find those toward the bottom of this page. If I click on Show more, you will see that there are a list of Role Guides listed here. Now, I'm going to click on business analyst and I'll show you what a Role Guide page looks like. It starts off at the top with a description about the job role, the role responsibilities for this job. This skills section is really important because you will see where my skills match from my job profile to this particular role. It also is going to show me what skills I need to develop if I want to move into this job role. Next, it's going to show content that's relevant for this job role, as well as additional content based on skills. And I can click on each of these skills. If I click on Business Process, for example, it is going to refresh the content below into business process relevant content. If you want to go deeper, you can see even more content at the bottom or earn a professional certificate that is relevant as a business analyst. And finally, you will see again the next role explorer at the bottom. So if I were a business analyst, you will see again what are the most common roles for business analysts? What are similar roles that I could move into? Or if I wanted to pivot from a business analyst, what are those jobs as well? If you are interested in growing in your current role or pivoting to a new role, I highly recommend returning to the Role Guides page so that you can explore all the content and skills skills that are most relevant for any of these job roles.
