Customize your career plan and create a weekly goal
- One of the most common challenges professionals face when it comes to learning and development isn't motivation. It's knowing where and how to start. That's where My Career Features in LinkedIn learning comes in. These features help you set your learning goals and build a personalized AI-powered learning plan tailored to your goals. In a previous video, I covered how to create a learning plan as part of the onboarding process and now I'll show you where to find that learning plan so you can update it at any time as perhaps your goals have changed. We also have additional settings that allow you to set a weekly learning goal and edit the skills you follow as your learning evolves. You will have access to these features if your organization is a Career Hub subscriber or you are a premium subscriber. Let me show you where to find it. From the homepage, I'm going to navigate to the My Career Plan to find that learning plan that I set early in the onboarding process. On the My Career Plan page, you will see at the top, role, and this is based on my current job role. If I click on this little question mark, it's going to show you that this is pulling in my most recent job title from my LinkedIn profile. And if this is not current, you'll want to go ahead and update your LinkedIn profile to reflect your current job role. The next thing you see is a goal. Now, this is the goal I set during the onboarding process and in this case, I want to grow and advance as a senior program manager, but let's just say my career goal has changed. To change it, you click on the little pencil icon and it will bring you back through that same process that you experienced during onboarding. I'm going to click back. And finally on this page, I have been working through my learning plan and you'll see what progress I've made against that plan as I have completed currently 19% of my learning plan. So if you want to come back and make learning a habit, you can come back here and just click continue learning and make your way through your learning plan at any time or make changes to your learning plan. Now, the next setting I want to show you is on a different tab in the left navigation. I'm going to go ahead and click on my content. At the top of this page, you'll see weekly goal and this is where you could set what kind of time you want to target every single week for your learning. If I click on the pencil, the default time that is recommended is 30 minutes a week, but you can go ahead and change it to 15 or even longer. I'm going to go ahead with the recommended 30 minutes and click set a goal. Finally, another thing I want to point out is updating your skills. Now, during the onboarding process, you could have selected skills that you want to follow that are most important to you, and I highly recommend that you check back here often and manage your skills by clicking on the pencil icon. When I do that, I can get an overview of all the skills that I'm currently following, which is quite a few, and when you follow skills, this is going to recommend content and this is going to power that personalized experience that you see on the homepage. So you definitely want to make sure that this is up to date. Now, to remove skills, I can simply click on the X to the right of the skill and it will disappear. So I will click on a few. Make sure you click save in the bottom right. My skills are now up to date, which means that my content will refresh on the homepage and other places where content is driven by my skills that I follow. I highly recommend you return to these important settings often so you can stay on track of your goals and learning on the platform.
