Some days you're bursting with ideas, and then on other days, your creativity seems to have gone . . . . . . on vacation . . . without you. There's a way to make those creative bursts more predictable. It's not magic. It's about establishing creative routines. To develop your own daily creative routines, there's no better place to start than with what I call The First Thing. I always say that “The thing you do first is the thing that gets done.” By prioritizing your creative work early in your day, you ensure it happens. Try setting aside 15 minutes first thing in the morning for creative work. It could be writing, sketching, or brainstorming -- whatever fits your craft -- as long as you do it first. Now that you've established your first thing, let's Create Ridiculously Achievable Goals that will keep you motivated. Set goals so small and easy that you can't help but achieve them.
