When taking online courses, it's common for people to feel alone, fear lack of support, or find it difficult to stay motivated. That's why I've made it my mission to improve the online learning experience for others. In this lesson, I'll discuss the importance of student engagement in the online learning journey so you can create engaging experiences that promote student success. Student engagement is critical in the online learning environment. I define virtual student engagement as the involvement, enthusiasm and connection to the task and activities in an online learning environment. To create this type of engagement, identify the learners and their learning styles. First, utilize various methods and approaches to reach multiple learning styles with one activity. Next, gauge engagement through positive interactions. Measure these positive interactions through attendance, assignments and assessments completed.
