Put text on a path

Put text on a path

- [Narrator] Most of the time you'll probably work with text arranged in regular horizontal reading order, but for those times when you want something more creative, you can make text follow the contours of a path. Let's see how that works. In our exercise file, we have some live text on a text layer, and in the paths dialogue I've gone ahead and created an elliptical shaped path to put the text on. So with the text layer selected and the path visible, I'll go to the layer menu and choose text along path. And a new path is created based on the text outlines. And notice how it stretched and distorted along that oval shape. It looks pretty good, but it's not exactly centered. I need to rotate it a bit clockwise, and this happens because GIMP places the text starting at an anchor point, which in this case is the left side of the oval. About here. So to fix this I'll hide the live text layer, and the path, and then drag out a horizontal guide to help me judge when I've rotated the text…
