Uploading website files with FTP
- [Instructor] In the last video, we talked about how to upload files with a file manager as well as its limitations. Let's go over how we can use FTP instead for uploading files to a web server. FTP stands for file transfer protocol, and is used to transfer your files from your computer to the web server. SFTP stands for secure file transfer protocol. It works the same, but there's an extra layer of security. This protocol encrypts the data being transferred and is recommended over FTP. But for the remainder of this lesson, I'll be using the term FTP to refer to both of them. To upload the website files in FTP client is required, which is software used to connect to the hosting server. For this demo, I'll be using FileZilla. To connect to the web server, enter your login details at the top of the app and select Quick Connect. This information can be found in your hosting account. The left panel is your local site, which…
