Making the switch from Excel to Tableau
- [Heather] Businesses have more data available to them now than at any point in the past. Large quantities of data can more easily be understood visually, and that's why Tableau has become extremely popular. Tableau was designed to take large data sets and create visualizations called dashboards that are made up of smaller components, such as summary tables and charts. When businesses adopt Tableau, one of the first big projects is to take all of the existing Excel dashboards and replicate them in Tableau, so I've designed this class to teach analysts how to transition from Excel to Tableau without getting too frustrated. My name is Heather Johnson and I've been a Tableau user for over six years now. At one point I was a serious Excel user and I had created so many dashboards in Excel that I was hesitant to try something new, but once I learned how Tableau works, it became my analysis tool of choice. After watching this course, you'll be able to leverage skills gained from working in Excel and then apply them to Tableau. You will learn how to bring Excel data into Tableau, where you will then create tables and charts to visualize your data. Once that's done, I will guide you through creating an interactive dashboard and soon, you'll be successfully transitioning from Excel to Tableau on your own.
