- [Instructor] Excel has introduced a number of new functions in recent years, and among them is a function called TEXTSPLIT. It's not uncommon to get data from other sources where it's not ideally set up for use in Excel. The list we see in row one, a series of states that are the 20 largest states in population, is separated by commas, that's viable information. We might want to use that as column headings or row headings. Splitting the data out or copying and pasting it could be tedious except for the fact that this TEXTSPLIT function is ideal for splitting this either into columns or into rows. So I've got the form set up in cell A4. We simply want to take that data in A1, so I'll double-click in here, it's a leading space in front of it right now. So we're looking at the data in A1, comma, and then we indicate the column delimiter. In other words, we're going to be putting this in various columns across row four.…
