Just like driving a car, wouldn't it be great if we had some kind of traffic lights to tell us whether to stop or go? Well, with Excel's conditional formatting, you'll be on the road in no time. I suggest having the exercise file open for this movie to follow along with me. In this lifecycle costing scenario, for the purchase and maintenance of a new car, our estimate comes out to $56,320. Now, we've set a budget of $63,000, so in theory, we're good to go with this purchase. In fact, the difference calculation here tells us exactly that. We're under budget by just over $6,500.
