- [Instructor] Data validation is an essential Excel utility as it allows you to control data entry. For example, if we head across to the data worksheet and click on the dropdown box for one of the roles in column G you'll see that we have constraints on what can and can't be input. This is awesome. If we go ahead and take a look at the data validation that's on the cell, by making sure that data is selected and then data validation, you'll notice in the source section here, the relevant range of options that are available for the dropdown list. And you'll see that it comes from the lists worksheet in column F. In fact, if we go ahead and click in the cell you'll notice that an outline appears for the valid options. Excellent.
