Well, let's start with the official definition of what a dashboard is according to author Stephen Few of "Information Dashboard Design". The way he defines it is a visual display of the most important information that is used to achieve one or more objectives, where the data is consolidated and arranged on a single screen. Okay, so that's his official definition. It's the one he lives by. Basically, we take from that that we use data visualization, we use a dashboard to display one or more things, usually monitoring a process, and it should be available to us on a single screen.
