- Now, once you've added the clips to the timeline, it's time to edit them. I'm going to show you all the common techniques and shortcuts you need to edit any clips. Please keep in mind that what I'm about to show you are my shortcuts, so feel free to change any of them to something else by going to the shortcut panel that suits you. All right, let's get started. First of all, trimming. So to trim the clip, just move the edges of the clip to shorten or expand it. Splitting is another really common technique. So to split a clip, just select it on the timeline, place the playhead where you want to cut, and then press C, which is my shortcut, and the mouse will turn into this eraser logo and then click where the playhead is. Now if you want to delete any unwanted section, just click on section you don't need and hit delete. Then there's delete left.
