Measuring the success of your design
- You've meticulously crafted a VR environment following the user-centered design process, but the journey doesn't end there. To truly empower users to drive future iterations, you need to measure the success of your design. First and foremost, to do this, you need to understand that success is contextual and multifaceted. It could mean very different things for different projects. Did you design a game intended solely for entertainment, or did you design a training module that hopefully improves learning gains? Or maybe you designed a VR tool to connect users socially in virtual reality? Each of these VR designs would have a very different definition of success. However, there are some commonalities across all VR projects. When thinking about outcomes, let's return to the hierarchy of needs. First and most importantly, is your environment comfortable to use? Remember, without comfort, people won't use something. Second, is it usable and understandable? Does it make sense to the user?…
