- [Narrator] How do you recognize if you've fallen into the "winner takes all" mentality with your testing and refinement? Recognizing this wholesale approval is very simple. If your tests are being called as winners or losers, you're definitely looking at your testing like a game. Sometimes this can be more subtle, such as saying a test was negative, neutral, or positive, but that's not always a sure sign. It only has a negative impact if winning is your only focus, because if you only focus on the quantitative outcome, such as if there was an increase or decrease in checking out, you've not learned why, and more importantly, what you might do to make the outcome more positive. In other words, to simply declare victory without understanding why something won, along with the context of how and what, prevents you from discovering what needs refinement before the next test.
